More About Midmar Mile

Just a few things that you need to know.... In order to swim the Midmar Mile, you would have completed the Capital K qualifier in December. There are very few exceptions....

Training starts early October every year and coincides with the start of the 4th school term.

There are a number of public holidays between the completion of the Capital K race on the first weekend of December and the Midmar Mile on the second weekend of February.

Increment weather or illness on training day may also affect the training period.

Payment for your race entry: Please note the cut off date is the 29th October (The cut-off date for Midmar Mile is earlier than the Capital K cut-off date, even though Capital K is before Midmar Mile). This is the final date by which we need to pay your entry fee to the race organisers. The entry fee for this race is R200.

If you are late with payment you will have to enter yourself for the swim AND be prepared to pay a lot more to enter – the race organisers will increase the registration fee for late entries.

Important times and dates to remember are:
9th February is the Midmar Mile swim.
Time: 12h15

If you travel from home, please leave early so that you are at the dam at least 45mins beforehand to collect your caps and timing chips from me. If you are booked into our campsite at Aird Farm, we will leave the campsite in convoy after breakfast as it is only a 15min drive to the dam. Be aware that there is an entry fee into the dam. It is can be around R90 per car, charged at the gate (For Capital K the charge is per person).

Please be aware that times, dates and charges are all subject to change by the race organisers. If you are registered on on this site, we will keep you updated with the latest info.
